President's Gala

SMWC hosts the third annual President's Gala to commence the next year of celebration leading up to our 175th anniversary. The night includes social hour prior to the gala, entertainment from Kazual and the Dueling Pianos, dinner and words of welcome from Mayor Duke Bennett, President Dottie King and General Superior Sister Denise Wilkinson.

Join us for the community kickoff to the 175th celebration at the Stables. Complimentary activities include dinner, country music by Declan McGarry, mechanical bull rides and bounce houses.

Vigo County Historical Museum Exhibit

The exhibit features various artifacts from the sisters and the College, books and documents related to the history, photographs and more, including a poster which depicts the different types of habits sisters have worn throughout the years, and a map featuring the sisters and their ministries.

Ribbon Cutting Celebration

10 a.m. Attend the celebration of the opening of the new Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center. Cross-town rivalry game with Rose-Hulman at 7 p.m. Tailgate party prior to the game.

Rooted for Tomorrow: Wine and Design


Professional artist Becky Hochhalter brings one of her popular Arte é Vino events to The Woods.
Becky instructs you on how to create a beautiful luminary sculpture using clay and wine bottles. Your artistic juices will flow as you sculpt your own unique piece of art. The $35 fee per person includes desserts and all of the materials needed to create one luminary sculpture. A cash bar will be available.

Rooted for Tomorrow: Planting New Seeds - Week of Service

Lasting the 12th through the 18th, come participate in a day of service in honor of the 175th anniversary year. All are urged to engage in service in their local communities throughout the week. Go to 175.smwc.edu/week-of-service.html for more information.

IN State Museum display

The year's events will include an exhibit during Spring 2015 at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis featuring artifacts from the Sisters of Providence and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. For more information, check the websites: www.sistersofprovidence.org and www.SMWC.edu.

Foundation Day Mass

The 175th anniversary year will conclude as it began: with the celebration of Eucharist at 1:30 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
